Pachmarhi, also known as Satpura ki Rani, is a hill station in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Its many waterfalls include Apsara Vihar, with its calm pool, and soaring, single-drop Silver Fall nearby. The Bee Fall tumbles over a jagged rock face to the northwest. Leopards and Indian bison live in Satpura National Park. The ancient Pandav Caves are a group of 5 dwellings cut out of sandstone on a hill.

How to Reach Pachmarhi

Pachmarhi is 47 km form Pipariya, which is on the Itarsi-Jabalpur rail line, 2 hours from Jabalpur and approximately 1 hour from Itarsi. You can also take a direct bus from Bhopal, which is 210 km away by road. Pachmarhi can also be reached from Nagpur by road, and the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has started luxury buses which take 8 hours to reach Pachmarhi.

With temperatures ranging between 22 and 35 degrees Celsius, this is a great time to visit Pachmarhi. Days are usually warmer than nights, and the heat is not unbearable for most since it is a hill station. The weather usually depends on the winds and humidity levels at the time. These months tend to experience high temperatures, but they also have low humidity levels, gentle breezes and occasional rain showers, thus making it seem less hot than it is.

During and post-monsoon, Pachmarhi looks especially gorgeous, with mist, fog and clouds all around. The entire hill station is drenched and is surrounded by lush greenery. Beginning from October, the winter season is the most advisable time for a visit to Pachmarhi. The months from October - February is a nice time for a visit when the climate is pleasant and the ambience lovely. Although temperatures can sometimes drop to as low as 4 degrees Celsius, this time of the year is the least likely to experience precipitation. Most people enjoy the cold weather and the cosy feeling of being dressed up in warm clothes, accompanied by hot beverages. Hence, it's a peak season. During this time, several festivals are celebrated with great splendour, such as Diwali, Navratri, Pachmarhi Utsava, Christmas and New Year, which also make it a peak season for tourists. The Pachmarhi Utsava, a six-day festival held every December, consists of art exhibitions, food stalls and several cultural performances. Another significant festival celebrated in Pachmarhi is Bastar Dussehra, which is a carnival celebrated during September and October.

Winter afternoon, Bhedaghat
One of the biggest festivals celebrated in Pachmarhi is the ?Mahashivratri Mela? (or the Mahashivratri fair) held in February, which celebrates the wedding of Hindu god Lord Shiva and Parvathi. People usually visit the Mahadev temple during this festival, and some even carry the trident to the top of the Chauragarh hill.
Located at 3,500 ft above sea level, this hill station experiences excellent weather at all times and is open for visitors throughout the year. Depending on their budget, the festivals and their convenience, tourists can be seen in Pachmarhi at all times of the year.
